Innocast can provide professional, low-latency outside broadcast services that won't break the bank. Using tried and tested methods coupled with some of the latest technologies, Innocast has the capability to broadcast audio, video and data from almost anywhere in the country.

We have taken existing technologies and improved them by way of custom designed developed software and codecs to provide high quality AV/data streams that are robust, error free and most importantly, high quality.

Traditional radio outside broadcasts use ISDN GSM codecs. Meaning you must have an ISDN line installed at your studio, and the associated equipment (ISDN rack, mobile codec) - In essence, this was a mobile phone with audio inputs that would connect to your ISDN decoder in the studio (Comrex etc). Audio could become degraded, and the cost could start to spiral out of control.

ISDN is two seperate 64kbps lines. This means that you are guaranteed 64kbps on each line. However, audio at 64Kbps using existing codecs is flaky at best. You could activate the second line, giving you a total throughput of 128kbps, which is a lot better! - However, you would be charged per minute per line. So if your mobile phone provider charged you 10p per minute, you would pay this twice (20p per minute) - If you were holding an event and were broadcasting for 3 hours a day for 5 days a week, you would be looking at paying £180! Lay on top the cost of the equipment (£2500+) and line rental for the ISDN (£50 p/m upwards) it starts to get very expensive! Don't forget, you'd also need to pay the broadcast technician for their time too!

Innocast presents, InnoConnect - the easy, affordable outside broadcasting platform! InnoConnect comprises of 2 software packages, a small, portable beam antenna, the InnoConnect "Widget" and a laptop!

Simply plug the antenna into the widget. Connect the widget to the computer. Finally, load up InnoConnect and you're away! InnoConnect even allows talkback to your broadcast technician from the studio! No need to call their mobile! Simply press the TalkBack button on the computer to talk! Messages can also be sent from the between the studio and broadcast site via the keyboard! This could include next playing song, cue's, and questions from listeners etc. The InnoConnect software also allows you to push "Time remaining" information. From either the studio or the broadcast site, you can tell each other how long either party has left to talk before the next song. Simply adjusting the time boxes and pressing "Sync" fires the information to the other end and displays a countdown!

"Sounds great, but can I afford to purchase equipment?" - The answer is, you don't have to! Innocast can supply low-cost broadcast engineers to visit your site and get you up and running with the software, then whenever you want to organise an outside broadcast InnoCast can attend with the equipment in hand to help you out!

Founded by Dave Stewart back in 2001 Innocast started as "NSF Networks" - a company which owned and operated a network of internet radio stations. NSF networks boasted an impressive client list, and provided full websites and CMS systems to those stations. Custom software was also developed to allow stations to track enhanced listener statistics, along with email and SMS participation analysis. In 2005, after a successful run, NSF networks sold the stations back to their original owners and used these proceeds to increase research and development towards new radio broadcast innovations.
